Nowadays, Peruvian cuisine is no longer associated with rustic restaurants and it has become possible to find familiar tastes in excellent places of high category and good service.
El Otro Sitio, is a good example. This Peruvian restaurant hast its origins in Lima, Peru and since 1989 it has existed in Santiago in the Bellavista neighborhood. Its creator, Emilio Peschiera, invented a menu that covers all regions of Peru with a touch of fusion, where Pescheira is very experienced in.
Nowadayas, El Otro Sitio has affiliates at Alto Las Condes, Borde Río and Parque Arauco, but the one I have gone to several times is the one in Bellavista. With an excellent decoration, enough room and a good service, I would give this restaurant an 8 out of 10 possible points. The food is exquisite (I highly recommend the scallop filled salmon), the only thing I don't like is that the side dishes are sold separately. I know several restaurants that do this, like the Vietnam Discovery, however, their courses always come with two side dishes and if you don't like them, you may order an extra side dish, but at El Otro Sitio there are no options.
Prices are a bit high in my opinion, that's why I give it an 8. Although the food is of high quality, average prices are of 20.000 CLP per person, which is clearly above the average of restaurants of the same category.
As I always tell you, there are budgets for everything, so if you belong to the lucky ones who can allow yourself a gastronomic treat once in a while, El Otro Sitio definitely is a place you need to know.
