Amadeus with its terrace at the Bustamante corner
In general, if I’m about to meet somebody to eat and hang out, I try to find a comfortable place, well-known with food that everybody likes at an affordable price. That’s when I go to “Amadeus”.
I got to know Amadeus when I was a student at university, located on a strategic corner of Bustamante, it was (and still is) the perfect place to buy an exquisite slice of pizza to go. The pizzeria and the cake shop – where you can buy to go – are at the same place. As time went by and with a bit more money in the pocket – a student’s budget often does not allow to eat out in a sit-down place – I discovered that the restaurant is incredibly comfortable, nice and convenient and they even serve excellent microbrewery beer.
I remember that the first time I went there I ordered an incredible salmon sandwich which came with rucula. I was impressed by the taste and the preparation, as I didn’t have high expectations for my “take-away pizza place”. The second time I ordered a salad called “Riviera” which is served with quinoa, avocado, shrimps and radicchio, a sort of red colored chicory. Again I was impressed by the preparation and this time I added the alcohol factor drinking an excellent home-made Belgian beer. And so…
I won’t tell you about every single time I went there, let me just tell you that I never left the place disappointed. Pizza of many kinds and good size, salad or sandwich, all is always delicious, well prepared and served fast. The also offer juices and glasses of wine, however, I prefer their own home-made beer (Amadeus) which I think is delicious.
Prices are around $7.000 CLP per person including tips and although the small place is always crowded it stays comfortable and cozy with enough space for everybody.
