Eclectic interiors and delicious modern Chilean cuisine, Liguria is a funky restaurant/bar that I highly recommend. Though it´s a little pricey, you get what you pay for. The service is great—not always the case here in Chile—the food is fantastic and the atmosphere is one-of-a-kind.

Decorated with antiques from ceiling to floor in all three of their locations, this restaurant feels distinct and classy—I love the old tiling in their Luis Thayer Ojeda location´s bathroom! It is special to say the least.

And then of course their menu is superb, and their wine list extensive. It´s known for taking Chilean tradition and modernizing its tastes, spicing things up a bit; and in my opinion, they do a fantastic job. For example, their starter, "warm goat cheese with arugula," takes a Chilean countryside classic: goat cheese, adds their own touch with arugula and spices, and serves it with a variety of hot, homemade breads. Mouth-watering. It´s perfect to share with a friend over a beer.

Everything is presented in rustic dishware, including Pomaire´s famous earthen bowls, in which they serve Merluza al Pil-Pil, a spicy fish cooked in olive oil and seasoned with merkén, among many other things. Delectable.

What I also really enjoy about the restaurant is that whether you´re just there for a frosty Stella draft, or to please your taste-buds, a complimentary basket of shelled peanuts are served upon arrival, and if you hang around long enough, they´ll even refill it! Also, regardless of what you order food-wise, a basket of breads come fresh from the oven, with merkén butters and homemade pebre. Scrumptious.

What´s more is that they have three locations in Providencia all next to metros, each one unique, with indoor and outdoor seating. Outside at their Manuel Montt location is perfect for enjoying a warm summer evening, people watching and cracking open peanuts over good conversation with a friend.

Locations:
Manuel Montt - 1373 Ave. Providencia, Providencia (Metro Manuel Montt)
Pedro de Valdivia - 047 Ave. Pedro de Valdivia, Providencia (Metro Pedro de Valdivia)
Luis Thayer Ojeda - 019 Luis Thayer Ojeda, Providencia (Metro Tobalaba)
