The Rocco's map

The Rocco's map

Many times after I get off work, I get terribly hungry and tired and I really feel like eating something fast, good, without doing any effort and if possible at a relaxing place. When I feel like this, I exactly know where to go.

It’s small and there are no tables, only a bar and there used to be a TV as well, but it broke and nobody knows when they come fix it. I’m talking about Rocco's, a pizza place in the Providencia neighborhood – which now has various branches in Santiago – where I like to sit down and eat during “Happy Hour”, complain if I had a bad day and laugh about the music videos (when there still was the TV).

Quoting the description on their website, Rocco’s is “arranged according a classic Dinner in New York with a cosmopolitan style, Rocco’s serves the most delicious home-made and wood-fired pizzas that we have seen up until now. An impeccable and minimalist atmosphere where black and red dominate makes us travel in time and space to the Big Apple”. Well, I don’t know if the style is that different from other places or if it really takes me to New York, but the pizzas are pretty good and the Happy Hour is awesome.

At Rocco’s the happy hour consists of 1 classic pizza - Napolitana, Palermo, American Pepperoni, Ricca Fresconi, Vegetarian, Benny Bronx and Hawaiian Connection – plus two national canned beers. One pizza feeds two people and you can order two halves of two different pizzas, the price is of $6.990 CLP. Not bad. Sometimes there’s a guy playing the saxophone, I guess because of the New York touch they want to give the place.

Besides pizzas that are really good (especially the Palermo one) they offer a decent variety of home-made beers, like Kross, which tested in collaboration with Rocco’s which beer goes best with which pizza, results show on flyers available at the bar.

Delicious, fast, cheap and good service. All I need when I get off work on Fridays
