Well, I had told you that I would go to Club Matadero this past 2 September to see 7x3 Veintiuna, so, I did.
It was my first time and it was incredible. The place was sold out and it was packed, so much so that the terremotos ran out before midnight. Though dancing cueca was cramped, the spirits were high until the wee hours of the morning, corresponding well with the start of our national heritage month.
I loved the place. It´s an intimate space with a stage and a small bar, all on the same floor. The decor is from newspaper front pages and magazines, covering the walls, and if the good vibes given out to those in attendance was more "endiciochados" (pertaining to 18), we would not have been able to stand it.
The live music sounded incredible, and although the tables couldn´t seem to cope with the regular audience, the drink offers ranged from $2,000 CLP for a good terremoto to $4,500 CLP for a bottle of Misiones de Rengo. Food wise, there were empanadas, pizzas and "chaparritas" (similar to a corn dog), all at $1,000 CLP.
Opening more than a year ago, Matadero stands as a good option for having a good time in the city, with a varied group of people, bringing generations together.
I would certainly, 100 percent recommend this place, especially when that folk feeling emerges and takes over our spirit.
