Today it’s the turn of a place to dance at which is oriented towards the gay community The Soda Club. Located in the Bellavista neighborhood, this place used to be an alternative dance club, playing Blondie or Be-Le-Duc music – pretty good in my opinion – with a quite heterogenous audience of gays, bisexuals and heterosexuals.
Some time ago, I went to dance there and got surprised – I had heard rumors – as the club has turned completely into a gay club, which means a lot of Kylie Minogue, Madonna, Shakira and other pop divas and a mostly gay audience. Gay clubs are mainly about testosteron, however, I was amazed by the number of girls I saw there that night. A good opportunity for girls who have had their coming-out already, as the “scene” is way too dominated by guys.
Something import to know, and writing this it made me think about the question if this might be a phenomenon of all gay places, is that the Soda Club is a small place and popular to flirt and “hunt” in a a very straight-forward way, although men seem to be more determined about it than the girls; you can see couples making-out passionately in many of the corners and if copulation would be possible between people of the same sex and with clothes on – half of the club would get pregnant.
If you go there, be prepared to constantly hear sexual insinuations and get lustful looks, because the club is not only a place to dance at, but also a place from where you don’t go home alone.
