One place in the city that has yet to disappoint is the small, but great Bar Loreto.
It seems I´ve ended up there a lot lately, always dancing the night away, as there is always live music and always a great Dj before and after the show.
It´s just one of those places where you can be sure to have a good time.
Located in Bellavista, Bar Loreto´s crowd generally consists of "hipsters," urban, mid-twenty to mid-thirty-some year olds, who in my opinion, have a pretty good taste in music.
With a small stage at the front, and a flashy, silver backdrop, they generally have live music every Wednesday through Saturday. The only thing is, that due to it´s small size, the place can get overwhelmingly packed, people waiting outside for the chance to get in. Also, while I´m complaining, with all of those people comes a whole lot of cigarette smoke, which seems to permeate into your inner soul — not cool. Plus, there´s no coat check, so you just have to hold it or throw it in a corner and hope it´s still there at the end of the night.
Because you see, this is not a bar for sitting down and hanging out, but enjoying great music and letting it flow through your body. And though it may be packed, no one can help but to dance, bumping into one another every once in a while, not caring, continuing to dance.
I would have to say that so far, one of my favorite nights there, which I´ve experienced twice now, is when Super 45 hosts their soul parties. The night is pure soul, bringing back motown, stax, northern soul, garage, mod and boogaloo; and they always include a live performance by the Ramixes, and nine-piece soul cover band, who are really quite good.
Drinks are fairly strong and the prices are consistent with the area; what more is there to say? This is a great little bar for dancing!
*Note: The stamp they put on your hand will remain there for a minimum of two to three days…it´s some powerful ink…
