Camila Vallejo
She is young, pretty, powerful and daring. The gringos find her attractive. The digital periodical The Guardian chose her as the "Person of the year", and The Clinic once said that "if she were a man, she would have a big one." She is Camila Vallejo, the student leader, graduate of geography, the one who created the public uproar this year, 2011. It is sure that she will continue to give us something to talk about in the coming years.
Though she is only 23 years old, she seems full of conviction. Because of this she is a militant of the Young Communists and was elected president of the Student Federation of the University of Chile (FECH) during 2011, where she headed a large number of mobilizations that shaped the successful Chilean student movement for free education.
Wikipedia states that she is from La Florida and that her parents fought for the Chilean Communist Party in the 70's. We know that she has had a presence in diverse events that are not directly related with politics, such as the Calle 13 concert in Chile, which took place this passed September. A concert in which Residente invited all of the directors of the movement to the stage and handed over the microphone in an act of support for the movement.
With green eyes, a nose ring, full of conviction, as well as rocking a Chile that had been laying dormant, in a lull of conformism, the results of her achievements are not yet fully apparent. We expect to see the effects of these results in the future; be it through her current status or may she decide to follow a political career in the future.
