One of Chile´s most famous Latin Lovers, Cristián de la Fuente.
He´s sexy. He´s romantic. He´s sultry. He makes sure to get your attention.
He´s the Latin Lover.
Yes my friends, the Latin Lover is more than a myth, and though he´s a stereotype, he´s o so real. Men from other ethnicities have nothing on this guy, try as they might, making the famous saying true, "There´s nothing like a Latin Lover."
I think what´s so attractive about him is that he´s compassionate, wearing his feelings on his sleeve, yet he´s manly, just full of testosterone. He looks into your eyes, he smiles, he holds your hand and kisses it. (Ideally, he also plays soccer, taking on that soccer-boy body. Oh, and he can dance.)
But like all humans, he´s certainly not perfect.
His Chilean protocol has all of the aforementioned qualities, and he absolutely loves women. If he´s a little more educated, he hides this fact better than the common street gawker. "Oh, mi reina," (Oh, my queen) "Preciosa," (Precious) "Exquisita," (Exquisite) are among some of his favorite cat calls. His words are sometimes a bit more vulgar, but that´s when you just forget it and/or be thankful you can´t understand. Having blue eyes, I´ve also encountered his poetic, "¡Linda, tus ojos son del cielo!" (Beautiful, your eyes are from the heavens!)
Oh, he´s got a way with words. Not just on the street, but the things he whispers in your ear or tells you over a glass of wine, the ones that really make you swoon. Take care though, words are only words…the Latin Lover certainly talks the talk, he does not however always walk the walk.
He tends to do one of two things: 1. Call you constantly, annoying you to no return. Relentless. 2. Blow you off after having had a great night together, never to call again. There is of course a happy medium, but he rarely achieves it. He can also fall in love dangerously fast, so if you´re not feeling it, get out sooner than later. It´s just better for all involved.
Another biggie is that fact that he´s most likely a momma´s boy, which is simply cultural, but not always agreeable.
There´s something about him though…and there´s nothing else like him…and if you´re here in Chile, he´s everywhere…
