After the Lollapalooza 2011 in Chile, Latin Bitman, producer and Chilean DJ, and Eric Bobo – known in the capital for his collaboration with the Beastie Boys and Cypres Hill – decided to give free rein to one of the hottest projects of this year. I speak about Ritmo Machine, an exquisite mixture of electronic beats, scratches, hip-hop and Latin percussions.
Their first production called “Welcome to ritmo machine” , recorded in Argentina with the National Records label, will be launched in the United States, Mexico, Argentina, Europe, Australia, and Japan. The great Anita Tijoux as well as Chali 2na (Jurassic 5), Sick Jacken (Psycho Realm), Money Mark & Mix Master Mike (Beastie Boys), Sen Dog (Cypres Hill), P-Nut (311) and the ex Control Machete Pato Machete have cooperated.
Last Friday (18th November) we went to listen to them live at Amanda, where a big audience was waiting for the sound of this great band. The performance was held on a simple stage, but including powerful scratches of Latin Bitman and the explosive percussions of Eric Bobo. The highlight of the night was when “Insane in the brain" – a Cypres Hill cover – was played. The audience was overwhelmed by so well elaborated rhythms and I realized why they are called Ritmo Machine.
If you would like to get to know them, Ritmo Machine will perform on December 14th, being part of the tour of some other great artists, Los Tetas, and they are part of the Line-up of the Lollapalooza Chile 2012.
