They call themselves Philipina Bitch—a name that has always made me terribly curious—and they are from Concepción; however, they´ve been here in Santiago for a while (since 2009), to delight those in the capital with their unbiased, experimental songs.

Philipina Bitch consists of Felipe Ruz and Sebastián Orellana, two friends who began to gather ideas and exude creativity in high school, to a type of society with whom, until this day, they have had success. In 2007, they released a 19-track album called, "Té, Papaya y Completos," (Tea, Papaya and Completos), and in 2009, "Vecindad Maldita," (Damned Neighborhood), in which other artists such as Iván Molina, Simón Cox, Pascual Mena and also the Hualpén Choir participated.

But these guys are much more than studio albums, as since 2006, they began to record original compositions and store them on their computer to later share them with the entire world as homemade editions, with unique covers and free downloads online.

One of the best things about Philipina Bitch—in addition to their music of course—is their idea of enjoying what you do, having a good time and sharing, hence these young boys´ acclaim and success in the big city.

To classify their work is difficult, as their music covers a variety of topics and styles—from melancholia, social critique, to the debauchery of rock and a kind of playful folk. However, we can say that they are known to have a free spirit and the ability to experiment, with simplicity and courage, because Philipina gets out there, unpretentiously, and it just makes hearing their music so interesting, varied and unforgettable.

Here we leave you with "Can Gu Rú," registered by our friends at La Vitrola, who so kindly and periodically share their excellent material with us…everything is for the dissemination of our Chilean bands.
