Cyber failure.

Cyber failure.

We always want to copy everything and especially if it's about rising the big companies' remittances and to speed up the economic adjustment to developed cultures, although this means to also adopt their bad habits. Chile does the utmost to resemble the United States of America, no matter if it's not very original, at any price and if our country is not prepared for it.

I can't put in chronological order all the imported ideas and traditions we have in Chile, but a very recent one is Halloween ⎯ where disguised children go to private houses to ask for candy - and now "Cyber Monday", an evident copy of Black Friday which in the United States takes place the day after Thanksgiving.

Companies such as Falabella, Sony, Ripley, Lan, among many others, lead that "day of the best internet discounts", devised by the Chamber of Commerce of Santiago and realized for the first time in Chile with several errors. Basically, the mayor failure was that many websites collapsed and many people who tried to buy on-line only got a "Request no found" message. Also, there was very little variety and no indication of the original price. A bad beginning of a copy.

This does not surprise me, but I still think it's embarrassing. I'm sure the next year it will come with a turkey included…
