Graffiti by Blu (http://www.portalnet.cl)
How have you imagined the beginning of time? Blu, an Italian graffiti artist, dives into the depths of imagination to show us his interpretation of creation and the development of life in his stop-motion video Big Bang, Big Boom.
Using city walls as the canvases on which he portrays his fantastic creatures, objects found around the city incorporated as props, and a raw soundtrack, which brings even more life to his stop-motion animations, Blu is able to narrate a 10-minute long commentary on life as we know it. In this video he covers various stages of our history as living beings from microorganisms and dinosaurs, to the history of human life.
Incorporating clever metaphors, he alludes to the ideas of how coincidental life is and how it can evaporates in an instant if humans keep behaving in the way that they do.
With murals covering the walls of Mexico City, Guatemala City, Managua, San José, Buenos Aires, and cities from Brazil, I think that Santiago would be a great place for his next project. Already being covered in impressive works of art, Blu’s inventive graffiti would be right at home in this city.
For another great Blu video, check out Muto, which features even more odd creatures, a galloping herd of teeth, and impressive stop-motion animation on the walls of Buenos Aires.
