Currently at the ever-so-lovely Sculpture Park in Providencia, there is quite an interesting exhibit titled "Errantes…" (Wanderers).

I went in hopes of seeing some interesting pieces, sculptures conveying a nomadic experience. When I walked in the exhibition room, there was one sculpture…beautiful and interesting, but making me automatically think, well thank goodness this was free. So, as there was only one piece on which to focus, I really took my time to interpret the installation, to feel sculptor Alicia Larraín Chaux´s idea of being delocalized in a global world.

And as I looked, I saw a bit of my life. Vague human forms and crazy lines with no one defined path, all confined in a steel frame. Larraín wanted to convey immigration, the twists and vagaries of their dreams. I am a young foreigner here in Chile, full of hopes and dreams, having experienced twists and turns within the frame that is my life.

I think for other world wanderers, this sculpture can soothe those deep worries that you should be living a more conventional life, bringing you a bit of peace and acceptance of all of those messy squiggles within, all of that uncertainty of where you belong. It´s all just a part of your journey.

So you see, despite only being one giant sculpture consisting of ten steal frames and five human silhouettes, it is worth a look. The park is beautiful and I could think of nothing better than to wander around it during one of these beautiful spring evenings and ponder a bit about life.
