Everything started because Constanza Larenas (Coni) has a friend who realized her medical internship at a hospital in San Ramón. So Coni invited her friend Trinidad Guzmán (Trini) to help painting a wall at the pediatrics emergency department at the hospital, part of a project financed by the Universidad del Desarrollo.
Coni and Trini got to know each other during the first year at university, in Arts class they became friends and enjoyed doing things together, so when this project came up it seemed to be the perfect opportunity. The idea of doing wall paintings had never really been their plan and they would have never thought that this could turn into a paid and systematic work one day, now known as "ESTANPINTANDO" ("they are painting").
Trini states that the way they work is very interesting due to the interaction with the people, which is different from regular exhibitions where people arrive, chose a painting and leave. Trini and Coni say it's more like "I invite you to my home, to enter to this intimacy and to make something out of it." According to Trini and Coni this produces a very entertaining dialogue between client and artists.
After the project at the hospital more and more people got to know their work and some friends invited them to their homes to paint their walls and that's how it all started. In April of this year they were painting one wall per week and recently they have even realized a project at the women's prison San Joaquín.
Trini and Coni are a good team, they work really well together and they don't have problems working in something so personal and private together as doing art can be. Sometimes their clients give them indications on what they would like the girls to paint but most times they fully trust in them and their creativity without giving any indication.
