Finally, yesterday evening the II Ibero-American Detective Novel Festival "Santiago Negro" began, at the Spanish Cultural Center (CCE).

With the ambassador of Spain and other important figures in art in culture from Argentina, Chile, Spain, Mexico, Uruguay and Venezuela, participating, the day developed under great organization.

The evening began with a loquacious presentation from the CCE Director, who was loudly interrupted by a PDI "operation," who were also sponsors of the event. It left us shocked and amazed by the original surprise and the lighting and pyrotechnic effects.

The night was centered around a debate, where panelists discussed issues related to the detective genre in Spain and Latin America. There were prestigious names in the subject such as Claudia Piñeiro, Lorenzo Silva from spain and Chilean Ramón Díaz Eterovic, who shed light on the genre´s current state in Ibero-America. They were directed by an excellent moderator and cultural editor, Vivian Lavin Almazán.

It would be impossible to not mention the prominent presence of writer Roberto Ampuero, who through his character Cayetano Brulé, has taken us more than once to the streets of Havana, now accompanying us throughout these days in "Santiago Negro."

The festival´s inauguration was only the beginning of an extensive program that will finish up this coming Sunday, which we, as event sponsors, recommend 100 percent.
