Yesterday, I was riding on a bus of Transantiago when a couple of young rappers got on. As always, the idea was that the passengers have a good moment and donate a “cooperation”. The interesting thing was that these guys, in order to test their capability of verbal improvising, asked some of the passengers to tell them a word from what they would start their song.

When I got off the bus I remembered a big national orchestra of 15 people that improvises on stage and on the spot, demonstrating excellent communication between the members of the band.

The band is called La MoleStar, that presented its first CD “Animalitos de otra dinastía” (2011) (“Animals of another Dynasty”) on 18th October at the GAM. Cumbia, Rock, Jazz, Afro-beat, Cuecas, Huaynos, FreeJazz, etc. are only some of the styles the band plays, guided by a director and also the audience that may sing and propose styles during the performances.

Every performance is a unique and unrepeatable experience; here goes one, recorded by our friends of La Vitrola.
