Andrés Perez, Who's memory is honored in this year's Santiago a Mil

For the past 19 years the International Scenic Arts Festival Santiago a Mil has flooded theaters, cultural centers and public places with various theatric presentations, dance and music.

Each year this festival -a subset of the International Theater Foundation a Mil (ITFAM)- since its origins has had the intention of facilitating the access of quality performances to everyone, significantly contributing to the development of the country's culture. Though the current prices are considerably more that 1,000 CLP; the cost of entrance when it began (also the origin of its name), there are various free performances with discounts if the performances are held in untraditional locations, and also for students and seniors.

The event displays an outstanding selection of national and international emerging theater acts. It has even become a display window for chilean companies.  As the official website states, "the first day of the festival - which will extend from the 3rd to the 22nd of January- will commemorate the 10 year anniversary of the death of Andres Pérez, creator of the Great Circus Theater. His memory will be remembered through the spirit of the festivities and the theater, which for him, was a place of happiness and dedication."

Among the chosen works for Santiago Mil 2012 are Marcelo Alonso's Rápido antes de llorar, by Marcelo Alonso;  El toro por las astas, directed by Alejando Goic and written by Juan Radrigan; Penetrador, by Jaime McManus; Juanche, el camino de la serpente, by Eduardo Irrazábal; El hijo de Madonna, directed by Gonzalo Venegas;  Uno toma lo sue tine (en case), directed by Hugo Osorio, and Extranjero, el último Hain, among many more.

The Festival is offering a special promotion available for all of the participating acts. It can be obtained through every sales system (internet, telephone, and sales points) and every spectator will be able to purchase a maximum of 5 passes per person.
