After my aunt had given me the first volume of the series of illustrated books of The Adventures of Tintin by Hergé (the pseudonym of the Belgian artist, Georges Remi), I quickly obtained the other volumes after reading it, and became a huge fan (having read each one multiple times).

Naturally, I was stoked when I learned that a movie of was being made… and it is finally here! On January 5th, 2012, you will be able to get in on the adventure and see Tintin, Snowy, Captain Haddock, and the rest of the classic characters in theaters in Santiago in The Adventures of Tintin: the Secret of the Unicorn.

Tintin, a young Belgian journalist, accompanied by his dog, Snowy, seems to wind up in all sorts of trouble while doing research for his stories. While in the midst of escaping dangers, treasure hunts, and mystery solving, he always ends up making friends from odd encounters and in the end, saves the day. Although nothing seems to deter this bright young journalist's persistence, he has to deal with the hardened Captain Haddock, a semi-deaf, absent-minded professor, two clumsy detectives, among other colorful characters while surviving a series of action-packed adventures.

Featuring a sunken ship, pirates, and impressive 3D animation, The Secret of the Unicorn promises to bring Tintin and the rest of Hergé's characters to life in a way that will leave you wanting more. With direction by Steven Spielberg and a great cast of voice actors, Tintin fans will not be disappointed. The film will be in many of the major theaters in Santiago, including the Cine Huerfanos.
