The Sexual Diversity March promotional poster.
For the eleventh annual Gay Pride Day celebrations in Chile, MOVILH (Chilean Movement of Sexual Minorities) is hosting a Sexual Diversity March this Saturday, 25 June, for all to unite in respect to social diversity and equality.
Gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transexuals and heterosexuals, all are invited to come to Plaza Italia at 3 p.m. to participate. It´s a fight for getting an anti-discrimination law, a gender identity law, for marriage, civil unions, repealing all discriminatory norms, ending any type of exclusion and fulfilling campaign promises! It´s a fight for rights!
As we´ve mentioned before, for being a more conservative country, Chile, Santiago in particular, has come a long way in the fight for sexual equality. Several events are held throughout the year in order to further evolve, such as last September´s Sexual Minorities March, where some 10,000 people came out to show their pride.
However, much inequality is still present, especially in the workplace, and until more progress is made, you will continue to see the streets occasionally fill with pride, fighting for justice. So no matter your sexual preference, if you´re looking to be a part of a huge movement, not just in Santiago, but all around the world, this Saturday is yet one more opportunity, be it through protesting or simply support. Along with the march, there will also be artwork, comedy and A LOT of diversity.
Remember: Saturday, 25 June at 3 p.m., Plaza Italia. Support sexual diversity!
